DJ BIOGRAPHY’S

ORIGINAL SIN

While some of you may not be 100% familiar with the name Original Sin, all will become clear when you realise that this is the new production alias of none other than Adam Tindall, one half of the undisputed kings of Jump Up Drum & Bass, G Dub. If you consider yourself a fan of Drum & Bass then undoubtedly you will have heard of G Dub, the Geordie duo who have been destroying raves with their inimitable blend of rig mashing beats for over half a decade, and it’s thanks to this tireless reputation for crafting straight up club bangers that Adam has become renowned for his outstanding studio skills.

Born and bred in Newcastle, Adam was initially drawn to Drum & Bass by the diverse sounds and inspirational production values collectively provided by some of the scene’s most respected names. Albums such as the incredible ‘Platinum Breakz’ compilation from the Metalheadz camp, and Grooverider’s legendary ‘Prototype Years’ album sucked him in and started him on a journey that would see him rise to the very top of the Drum & Bass scene. His love for the music grew and grew until the desire to become more actively involved in the scene took hold and he took up DJing shortly before enrolling himself at Music College.

Dedicating all of his spare time to honing his craft, Adam met up with Jake at college, and that’s where the infamous Generation Dub was forged. However, it wasn’t long before the pair realised that Music College, far from teaching them the skills required to create the kind of beats their musical heroes had inspired them with, was actually a pointless pursuit and they both decided to quit to concentrate on their music at home.

Adam already had a reputation as an excellent local DJ around Newcastle, including at his own Area 51 events. Using his DJing as an opportunity to road test his tracks and to give them to visiting headliners for feedback, Adam quickly started to get encouragement from the bigger names in the scene, and it wasn’t long before none other than DJ SS snapped up two of G Dub’s early productions for his Reformed imprint.

‘Ghost Busters’ and ‘Monster Sound’ were well received, and with this new impetus spurring them on the pair knuckled down in the studio, creating a succession of dancefloor killers that cemented their reputation as one of the hottest new acts around; their reworking of Total Science’s classic ‘Champion Sound’ and ‘Body Snatchers’ on Formation in particular marked G Dub as a name to watch.

Of course the successive deal with DJ Hype & Pascal’s immense Ganja imprint proved to be the making of the G Dub franchise, as Adam and Jake’s studio let off more anthems than an Olympic Games opening ceremony and tracks such as ‘Tink Ya Bad?’, ‘Warp Speed’ ‘Forever’ and ‘Beast City’ have collectively smashed up more dancefloors than a specialist nightclub demolition team.

From now on however, G Dub is no more and Original Sin is the future for Adam. The ridiculously heavy ‘Don’t Be Silly’ and his remix of Shy FX’s classic Ebony Dubsters track ‘Rah’ have gone a long way to stamping his individual mark on the Drum & Bass scene, and there’s no signs of slowing down. As a result of these massive tracks that have been smashing down dancefloors like a scorned noise abatement officer, Original Sin’s DJ bookings have gone through the roof and Adam is working hard in the studio to ensure that his new alias has even more success than his previous incarnation. With skills like his, we’re expecting huge things!

DJ FU

DJ Fu has played in many cities across the globe including London, Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Manchester in world class venues such at Matter, Ministry of Sound, The End as well as at various promotions including Marky and Friends, Mixmag, Metropolis, Urban Nerds, Ape, One Nation.

Fu is one of the few Drum & Bass DJ’s of recent times who has managed to be recognised purely for his talent on the decks. After winning a DJ competition for Source, DJ Fu won a residency at Oxford’s most prestigious drum and bass night, following in the footsteps of Total Science, Baron and DJ Lee who have all held residencies there.

DJ Fu’s scratching has featured on films, the computer game DJ Hero as well as 1xtra award winning album – Now More Than Ever by Logistics (Hospital Records). He has recently been commissioned by Lacoste to do a mix cd to accompany a limited edition trainer the ‘Mississippi DSM’.

Having been given the opportunity to support London Elektricity Live, DJ Fu’s career took a sudden twist. Jungle Drummer watched DJ Fu on the decks as he packed his drum kit away, was very impressed with what he heard and asked Fu to join his Drummer vs. DJ project.

DJ Fu and Jungle Drummer have been widely recognised as the most successful Drummer & DJ combo in the world, having toured the USA and Europe, as well as playing prime time slots at Global Gathering, Glastonbury, Warehouse Project, Gatecrasher and many more.

Knowledge Magazine named DJ Fu as ‘One to Watch’ also touting him as one of the most exciting Drum & Bass DJs in the country. At the same time ATM magazine also recognised DJ Fu as a leader of the new school and he received nominations for ‘Best Newcomer DJ’ and ‘Best Live Act’ at the Drum & Bass awards.

DJ Fu has worked with MCs such as Stamina MC, Deeizm, Lowqui. He has also worked with beat boxers such as Beardyman at the legendary Battle Jam. DJ Fu has worked as Rodney P’s tour DJ when Skitz has not been available. He has also worked in Barry Ashworth’s Dub Pistols as a scratch DJ and member of the band.

All this recognition without any production credits to his name is a testament to DJ Fu’s skills, energy and excitement on the decks. However, recently DJ Fu has also been turning his hand to production and has just signed his first release, collaborating with friend ‘DJ Clart’, to Influenza recordings. He is already working on future releases and is looking to tear up dance floors all over the world.
